Terms of Service

What Good Crowd does

Good Crowd lets you choose IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofits, set one monthly amount, and have that amount split across them in the proportions you choose. We collect your payment, split it cent-exactly, and transfer each organization's share to it through Stripe. We are a giving platform, not a charity, and we do not endorse or vouch for any particular organization.

Your account

• You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding contract.
• You sign in with Apple or Google. Keep that account secure; you are responsible for activity under your Good Crowd account.
• Give us accurate information and keep it up to date.
• One account per person. Don't share, sell, or transfer your account.

Donations and fees

• Your monthly amount is charged to your payment method on your billing date each month until you change or cancel it, which you can do in the app at any time. Changes take effect on the next billing date.
• A platform fee of 6% plus 30¢ is added to your donation and shown before you confirm. The fee covers payment processing and running the Service. Your nonprofits receive 100% of the donation amount you set.
• Donations are final once charged. Because funds are transferred to nonprofits promptly, we generally cannot refund a donation. If you believe a charge was made in error, email us within 30 days and we will look into it.
• We send you an itemized receipt for each charge. Whether a donation is tax-deductible depends on your situation; talk to a tax professional. Good Crowd is not a donor-advised fund and does not provide tax advice.
• If a nonprofit has not yet connected a payout account, we hold its share and keep trying to reach it. If we cannot deliver the funds within a reasonable period, we will contact you and either return the funds or, with your permission, redirect them to another organization in your portfolio.

Nonprofit information

Organization names, missions, financials, and locations come from the IRS and from Candid. We show them as-is and don't verify every detail. An organization appearing on Good Crowd does not mean we have reviewed its programs or finances. Do your own research before giving.

For nonprofits

If you claim an organization on Good Crowd, you represent that you are authorized to act for it and that it is a 501(c)(3) in good standing. You agree to Stripe's Connected Account Agreement to receive payouts, and to use donations for the organization's charitable purposes. We may suspend payouts if a claim appears fraudulent or the organization loses its tax-exempt status.

Acceptable use

Don't use the Service to:

• break the law, launder money, or evade sanctions;
• use a payment method you are not authorized to use;
• impersonate a person or organization;
• scrape, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the Service or its security.

We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms.

Our content

The Good Crowd name, logo, app, and site are ours. You may use the Service for personal, non-commercial giving. Nonprofit data belongs to its respective sources.

Disclaimers and liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent allowed by law, Good Crowd is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the platform fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Ending things

You can cancel your giving or delete your account at any time in the app. We can suspend or end your access if you violate these terms or if we wind down the Service; we will try to give you reasonable notice and will complete or return any pending donations.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For meaningful changes we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Illinois.
